How this practice test works
Each mock test has 20 multiple-choice questions and an optional 45-minute timer, matching the format Home Affairs describes for the real test. Questions come from all four testable parts of Our Common Bond, and exactly 5 are about Australian values.

To pass, both of these must be true:
- At least 15 of 20 questions correct (75%).
- All 5 Australian values questions correct.

The Australian values requirement
Values questions often describe everyday situations and ask what is consistent with Australian values such as freedom, respect, equality and the rule of law. Study them in the Australian values hub.
How to prepare
- Read the testable section of Our Common Bond, or use our study guides.
- Practise one topic at a time and read the explanation for every answer.
- Revisit what you got wrong in Review mistakes.
- Take full mock tests until you pass consistently with all values questions correct.
Mock test FAQ
Is this the real Australian citizenship test?
No. It is an independent practice test. The questions are written from the testable section of Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond, which Home Affairs says all real test questions are based on. The real questions are different.
How is this mock test marked?
The same way as the real test: you pass with at least 15 out of 20 correct overall and all 5 Australian values questions correct.
Can I change my answers before finishing?
Yes. Use Back or the question numbers to return to any question. Answers are only marked when you finish the test.
Does every mock test have different questions?
Each test is drawn at random from the question bank, with exactly five Australian values questions and the rest spread across the other testable parts. Questions you have missed before are slightly more likely to appear.
What happens to my results?
They are saved in your browser on this device so you can see progress and review mistakes. There is no account, and results are not sent to a server.
